Janaka Selekta is co-founder of Dhamaal, a 20 person strong artist collective, which after 6 years of persistent growth has become the foundation for the massive showcase of South Asian and world music entitled Worldly @ super club 1015 Folsom in San Francisco.

As a DJ Janaka's skills have been recognized by the San Francisco community when he received the reader’s poll award for best DJ of 2004 from the SF Guardian. Currently, Janaka's main focus is producing original music and he is honored to be collaborating with his musical hero Dr. Das of Asian Dub Foundation as well as Ustad Sukhawat Ali Khan (son of Salamat Ali Khan), Senegalese vocal sensation Samba Guisse and tabla virtuosos Shabi Farooq (disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussien) and Ferhan Qureshi (disciple of Ustad Tari Khan). His tuff breakbeat tune 'Bol Breaker', featuring all of the above musicians, is riding high on BBC Radio 1's Bobby Friction and Nihal Show.
